Three Wildcats Land on the All-West Region Team
SALEM, Ore. – Three all-region performances highlighted Linfield’s showing at the 2012 NCAA Division III West Region Cross Country Championships, hosted by Willamette and contested on a crisp Saturday morning at the Oak Knoll Golf Course.
Joe Gladow, Brooke Niemann, and Claire Hann earned All-Region status as one of the top 35 runners to cross the tape in their respective races. Gladow repeated as an All-Region performer, while Niemann and Hann earned the honor for the first time in their Wildcat careers.
As a team, the Wildcat men finished 10th in the team standings and was the fourth club from the Northwest Conference. Linfield’s women also fared well against NWC opponents, taking third among league squads and seventh overall.
“Both teams ran pretty well,” stated Associate Head coach Greg Mitchell. “We just had a couple of runners have off days on both sides which hurt our team score. You can’t expect to battle with the top teams at Regionals if you aren’t 100% on.”

“Brooke and Claire raced very well,” stated Mitchell. “They stuck their noses
in it and were really close to qualifying for the National meet.”
Rounding out the top five for Linfield were Siena Noe, Katie Skinner, and Audrey Lichten. Noe finished 42nd (22:43.38), Skinner placed 64th (23:19.01) and Litchten took 78th (23:33.02).
“I thought we’d place a bit higher, particularly on the women’s side,” stated Mitchell. “That said, I am excited about the prospects for next year as every runner who raced today is back for next year. They will be more experienced and hopefully, more hungry.”
