Q & A with the 'Cats - Get to know Jill Boroughs

Year: Senior
Home Town: Kent, WA
Major/Minor: Physical Education and Education

Why did you come to Linfield?
I wanted to attend a school that was away from home. I enjoyed the small/homey environment.  Linfield is also well known for their education department.  And I was able to run cross country and track.

What is your fondest memory thus far from your time at Linfield?
My freshmen year, living with all of my closest friends on the same floor and all the crazy and fun things we would do together.

What is it that you enjoy most about cross country?
I love how close our team is and that we are all good friends inside or outside of practice. Camp K is also some of the best times all season.

Who is your athletic hero/role-model?
My dad has always been my athletic role model. When I first started running in junior high he would go on runs with me and after awhile I got too fast for him so he started riding his bike around with me.

Do you crinkle your race bib number or leave it smooth?
Never crinkle! I like my numbers to earn their crinkle during the race. Also they hang better on my wall when they aren’t all messed up.

What’s your most embarrassing athletic moment?
How nervous I get before every race.

What is your favorite movie?
Mean Girls.

What song is most played on your iPod?
Bullet-Mat Kearney

What is your homepage on your computer?
Google

What words of wisdom would you offer to a college-bound high school senior?
Visit all the colleges you are interested in and try to spend a night on campus to get a feel for the campus life.  If you stay the night you are more likely to get real student opinions and find out what they really think. Tour the city the college is in to determine if you like to size and feel. Find scholarships - school isn’t cheap, but don’t let the price be the only thing that stands in your way of going to the school of your dreams.
