Rain and PRs at Linfield Invitational
April 6, 2013
The hundreds of athletes who descended upon Linfield College’s Maxwell Field for the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational were greeted with typical Oregon spring weather last Saturday, but it certainly didn’t stop the Wildcats from hitting season best marks.
On the women’s side, Hannah Greider continued her stellar season, winning the 5000 meters in a time of 18:12. The time places Greider on the Linfield top 10 list in the event. Linfield runners went 1, 3, 5 in the event as Siena Noe and Jill Boroughs turned in strong performances behind Greider.

Calli Dowdy also hit a season’s best in the 800 meters, just missing the NWC
mark. In the women’s 10,000 meters, Emily Kreifels knocked a minute off her
time and qualified for the conference championship.
On the men’s side, Lester Maxwell ran a NWC leading time in the 800 meters, winning his race in 1:55. Brandon Lemerande and Brennan Lester chalked up season’s bests in the 5000 meters. Flint Martino ran well under the conference mark in the men’s 10k in only his second try at the distance.

“The athletes continue to hit season’s bests and
personal records which tells me we’re heading in the right direction,” stated
assistant coach Greg Mitchell. “They’re starting to believe in themselves and
are willing to risk it a bit more on race day. It’s been great to watch.”
